Welcome to my writing desk
Hello, and welcome to the first letter from my writing desk. September brought a milestone I had been looking forward to: my first book signing for The Weaver's Wake. I loved meeting readers, hearing what drew them to the story, and seeing the paperbacks sell out. I came away with a clearer sense of how much I enjoy those conversations—not just talking about the book, but hearing what readers notice and wonder about.
On my writing desk
I'm deep in the next Dragonwoven story, The Weaver's Witness. The second book keeps asking me to look more closely at the relationships and choices that shape its characters. It's a different stage of the work from drafting: revisiting scenes, following the threads, and making sure each change earns its place.
What I'm reading
This month I've been reading Lore Olympus, returning to an older French telling of Beauty and the Beast, and spending time with Forsaking Midnight. I love seeing how different storytellers approach familiar myths, relationships, and questions of transformation.
Send me down a rabbit hole
One of my favorite parts of writing and learning is following a question farther than I expected. Is there a myth, fairy tale, legend, or bit of overlooked history you'd like me to explore? Hit reply to the next letter and tell me what you're curious about.
Until next month,
Christine Chamberlain
